What Wants to Live Through Me Now?

There are cycles within cycles.

The turning of the seasons. The cycles of our own lives.

And the longer movements of the planets, which some of us use as a way of noticing and reflecting on our own inner landscape.

Right now, Chiron is moving back into Aries for its final seven-month passage, bringing to a close a chapter that began in 2018.

In astrology, Chiron is often known as the wounded healer - a symbol of the places where our deepest wounds can become doorways into healing, wisdom and a deeper knowing of ourselves.

Chiron's journey through Aries has been associated with themes of selfhood, identity, agency and the courage to be ourselves.

Then, in spring 2027, Chiron will settle into Taurus for another seven years, bringing themes of worth, security, embodiment, values and what truly sustains us.

I don't know that we need to believe that the planets cause anything for these cycles to be useful.

For me, they offer a way of pausing.

A marker in time.

A chance to look back, to notice what has changed, and to listen for what might be asking to emerge.

And so I've been thinking about this for myself...

And so I've been thinking about this for myself...

What was happening in my life eight years ago, in 2018?

Who was I then? What did I believe my life would be? What has happened since that I could never have imagined?

I want to sit with that for a while.

There are things I lost. Things that changed. Things I would never have chosen.

And there are things I have discovered too.

Parts of myself I hadn't yet met. Ways of loving. Ways of saying no. Ways of listening. Ways of belonging to myself.

I don't need to make sense of it all.

I don't need to call it growth.

I just want to notice.

And notice my body as I do.

What am I still carrying because it once kept me safe? What am I still holding onto because it once hurt too much to let go?

And perhaps two deeper questions for me are...

What have I learned about trusting myself?

What does it mean to belong to myself now?

To not have to build my future in response to my past. To not have to keep protecting myself from what has already happened.

To make room for desire. For curiosity. For love. For the unknown.

I don't expect to answer these questions today.

Perhaps this is an exploration I get to begin now and stay with over the coming six months.

A quiet noticing. A returning. A listening for what is changing inside me.

And as this long cycle comes towards its close, I want to remember to thank the self who carried me here.

My feet that kept me standing. The ground beneath me that supported me. The breath that kept flowing through me.

And I listen...

What wants to live through me now?
